Rainwater harvesting filters
Rainwater harvesting (RWH) is the collection and storage of rain, rather than allowing it to run off. Rainwater is collected from a roof-like surface and redirected to a tank, cistern, deep pit (well, shaft, or borehole), aquifer, or a reservoir with percolation, so that it seeps down and restores the ground water.
Rainwater harvesting is one of the simplest and oldest methods of self-supply of water for households, and residential and household-scale projects
Advantages of Rainwater Harvesting
It provides drinking water. It provides irrigation water. It is responsible for the increase in groundwater level. It reduces storm water discharge, urban flood and overloading of sewage treatment plants.
Rainwater harvesting methods
1.Surface runoff water harvesting is the collection, accumulation, treatment or purification, and storing of storm water for its eventual reuse. It can also include other catchment areas from manmade surfaces, such as roads, or other urban environments such as parks, gardens and playing fields.
2. Rooftop Rain Water Harvesting is the technique through which rain water is captured from the roof catchments and stored in reservoirs. Harvested rain water can be stored in sub-surface ground water reservoir by adopting artificial recharge techniques to meet the household needs through storage in tanks.
3.A recharge pit allows the rainwater to replenish groundwater by recharging the underground aquifers. It can be built to recharge a bore well or just to help the water infiltration in an area
The main components of a rainwater harvesting system for groundwater recharge are:
- Catchment: The rainwater collection area is any paved or unpaved surface, such as rooftop, plot (garden, driveway etc). Catchments for recharge need not be “super clean” – since the water is getting recharged and the earth acts as a filter as it percolates into the ground. Therefore, garden areas, paved areas, farmland and rooftops are appropriate catchments. Catchments with chemical contamination however should be avoided. Gardens and farmlands should be conscious about the use of fertilisers and pesticides.
- Conveyance: In the case of rooftops, downpipes or gutters carry rainwater. In the case of plots, channels/pipes in the ground carry water. In layouts / campuses / large apartments storm water drains carry runoff from different catchments of the landuse (Eg: parks, roads, other paved areas, gardens and excess rooftop runoffs). Storm water drains therefore are a very important conveyance mechanism for recharge.
- Filtration
- Recharge well
Water table, also called groundwater table, upper level of an underground surface in which the soil or rocks are permanently saturated with water. The water table separates the groundwater zone that lies below it from the capillary fringe, or zone of aeration, that lies above it.
Water tables are useful tools for measuring aquifers, saturated areas beneath the water table. Aquifers are used to extract water for people, plants and every organism living on the surface of the Earth. Some water tables are dropping very quickly, as people drain aquifers for industry, agriculture, and private use
Different models of filters we are handling
WISY AG Germany has its company headquarters in Hitzkirchen, a small town surrounded by meadows and forest within the boundaries of the Vogelsberg nature recreation area in Hesse, Germany. The company was founded in 1989 by Norbert Winkler (WISY – Winkler Systems), who laid the foundation for the emergence of rainwater harvesting by inventing and patenting the filter collector with the unique filtration technique.
'Rainy' Dual Intensity filters work at high efficiency regardless of the intensity of rainfall and have self-cleaning abilities. At nominal prices, our filters are market leaders in Rooftop Rain Water Harvesting.
Technical specification
NeeRain is young start up committed to a cause of Rainwater Harvesting. Rainwater that is delivered free of cost to each one of us is going down the drains. At Neerain we offer Patent forwarded technologies to capture each drop of rainwater for day to day use or diverting to Mother Earth to fill our groundwater bank.
